XSPRESS II

XSPRESS 2 is the second generation of the unique XSPRESS adaptive pulse processing technology developed at Daresbury Laboratory for ultra-dilute spectroscopy applications.

This enhanced technology still offers the very high speed, resolution and flexibility afforded by the original system, yet delivers it with even more spectral information and control, in a compact and industry standard form factor.

The system has already been implemented on the new UK DIAMOND Light Source synchrotron and in expected to find application in a number of other facilities in the near future.

Performance
Count rate Limited in hardware design to 5x10^6 counts/ channel/ second.
Scaler capability Each channel …. On board 256 point scalers
Histogram capability Each channel …. 4k point MCA per point
On board memory System has space for 250 frames (250 x 4k MCA) / channel
Equivalent to 250 points on a raster scan or 250 monochromator positions.
Deadtime correction System deadtime is scaled internally enabling simple count rate relinearisation
